Furwa Rizvi
Professor of Teacher Education
Furwa Rizvi, Ed.D. , is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at California State University, Stanislaus. Her research interests include, early childhood education, supporting Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) teachers, and professional development for educators. Dr. Rizvi obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas and her master's degree in education and teaching from the
University of Texas at Arlington. Recently, she graduated from San Jose State University with her doctorate in educational leadership. Her dissertation focused on the preparation of administrators and teachers of Transitional Kindergarten programs throughout California public schools. Dr. Rizvi has 9 years of teaching experience at elementary levels in both Texas and California. She received the Outstanding Teacher award at her school site in Fremont Unified School District and mentored new teachers within her district. Now in higher education, she has a mission to be an advocate and a strong support for all students.
